Testimonials

We are proud to provide individual, health focused care to all of our residents. Please take a moment to read some reflections from current and previous patients, families and practitioners from our past 10 years of business as Portland Innovative Senior Care.

“My father has been a resident of Magnolia Innovative Senior Living since August, 2010. As daughter and legal guardian, I highly recommend this home and owner, Amanda Shields, for anyone considering an adult foster home. My father experienced a stroke in 2006 that left him left side paralyzed and cognitively impaired. After living in two other places, both larger residential care facilities, I appreciate the level of care and home environment that Magnolia provides my father. The key ingredient is Amanda. Her combination of licensed expertise, high level of effective communication as well as hands-on ownership and involvement with residents provides top quality care for my loved one. As a nurse practitioner, Amanda provides a level of care that enables additional home medical monitoring and treatment. The communication level is superb; interaction via phone, email and texting as needed are very effective for providing ongoing interaction with me to improve care and quality of life for my father. Amanda has always been available to meet in person and welcomes periodic care team meetings to review Dad’s care plan. I am especially grateful that she was able to meet me the hospital to help with my father’s care as he was being treated for pneumonia last winter. I appreciate Magnolia’s home environment and the staff are always attentive, thoughtful and considerate of the residents and family. The annual Christmas party is a great time to visit with residents and their family members, who we see periodically all year long. I visit my father at various times of the week and he is always comfortable and well cared for. I am blessed to have a wonderful home for Dad, and I have no hesitation providing further recommendation to anyone considering Magnolia.”

“I can't say enough about the level of care and genuine concern that Amanda and her team at Magnolia have given our Mom. I don't know what we would have done without them. We searched everywhere (practically the whole state) for a place that could meet our standards of care. Little did we know that place was practically in our backyard. Not only do Amanda and her team manage Mom's physical and medical needs, they go out of their way to make Mom and all of us feel at home. There's nothing that feels clinical or cold at Magnolia. The home, activities, food, mix of residents and overall ambience make it warm and inviting. Really, I don't know how they do it. Above all, our Mom is happy and thriving there.”

“Amanda Shields is a valued partner in the elder care community. Her medical expertise and experience is matched by her compassion in handling the medical and behavioral challenges of her residents. She works well with the families and medical staff involved with her residents. Amanda's care staff consistently provide the highest standard of personal care and together they maintain a home filled with warmth and beauty. I highly recommend Portland Innovative Senior Care!”

“Amanda and her direct care providers restored my father’s quality of life, renewed his dignity, and improved his overall health after I moved him to Magnolia Innovative Senior Living following a very challenging year at a larger care facility. The knowledgeable and caring team designed an individualized care plan to address my father’s specific needs, provided him delicious and nutritious homemade meals, connected me with visiting medical and wellness professionals, and encouraged daily interaction amongst the residents. They were by my side as my father approached the end of life, providing guidance each step of the way ensuring he was always comfortable.”
